Hey, thanks to everyone who contributed to the article. Much appreciated! Thanks to the Bully, too ;-).

There's a rumor SourceForge is hiring bullies to threaten trunk deletion unless released on schedule ;-).

But I must say that thanks to the bully, the Poco page has been improved a lot. This should have been done long time ago. Anyway I cleaned the dummy flag which is invalid now. Hopefully no one will bully again.

Wird jeden Tag schlimmer mit den Wikipedia-Blockwarten.
Gets worse every day with the Wikibullies.
(And yes the deletion trend manifests itself in the english version as well now.)

I've updated the wiki and tried to clean up some of my last edit by expanding a bit. Also I have added links to the ACCU articles, etc.

I'll continue to try and update it top to bottom HOWEVER can someone look at the overview section I added and see if it should be kept? If the consensus is no then either delete it or let me know and I'll go clean it up.

Thanks for all the contributions so far!

Here's some information about POCO's history.

I started with the development of the class libraries in the late Summer of 2004, after being dissatisfied with what was available on C++ class libraries for network/internet programming (e.g. multithreading, XML support, network protocols like HTTP, etc.).

First public release (on Sourceforge) was on February 21, 2004. This release contained the Foundation and XML libraries.
Back then, POCO was under the Sleepycat license.
In May 2005 we had the first contribution by Alex and on January 19, 2006 we released 1.0 (including the Net library).
In July 2006 we changed the license to the Boost license.
POCO 1.3, which included the Data library, was released in May 2007.
As a reference for history, you can cite http://pocoproject.org/documentation/POCOOverviewSlides.pdf and also the Changelog: http://poco.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/poco/poco/branches/poco-1.3.6/CHANGELOG?view=text

Also, we should put in references to the three POCO-related articles in ACCU CVu and Overload:
Günter Obiltschnig, A Guided Tour Of The POCO C++ Libraries in ACC CVu Volume 19 Issue 2 (April 2007)
Aleksandar Fabijanic, Dynamic Any, Part 1, ACCU Overload 86 (August 2008), http://accu.org/var/uploads/journals/overload86.pdf
Aleksandar Fabijanic, Dynamic Any, Part 2, ACCU Overload 87 (October 2008), http://accu.org/var/uploads/journals/overload87.pdf

I think that we can add more:

1. Upcoming features & Roadmap

2. Criticism/Evaluation by 3rd party developers/writers.

I took at a stab at fleshing out the hierarchy section. Pressed for time at the moment. If the content I added is in line with the expectations of the POCO community then I'll try to add some more content and polish to it over the following week.

Hi I don't have info on Poco history and can't find 3rd party reviews. I made small edits though.

Could you provide some information on history?
