Socket for Inter-process-communication

Postby sampsont » 21 Sep 2009, 20:50

I want to make a client/host socket connection between two processes in the same machine.

Should I use a SocketStream/StreamSocket? It seems like this much overhead is not needed to communicate inside the same box. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks,
todd

On some POSIX platforms, local sockets are faster. There is no IPC support in POCO, only some local sockets experimental code and tests in the SVN. See this blog post for details.

Hi.

Any idea if the local sockets can be used out of SVN?
Or it's already implemented in latest versions.

I'm looking to remove the dependency on ASIO, from which I use only this function.

Thanks for any feedback.

The answer is no to both questions.
