unix domain sockets

Postby bahadir » 22 Jun 2010, 14:36

Hello

Is it possible to use Unix Domain Sockets in Poco? I searched the forum but couldn't find something useful.

Thanks.

If I remember a previous forum thread, you can't because it only works on UNIX systems which makes the feature not multi-platform.

May be it can be implemented just for *nix platforms. Is it reasonable to use just common features altough a nice feature exists but not common?

Just use the low-level API to create a domain socket and try to import it into a POCO socket during construction; maybe that might work.

Is it to communicate between two different applications or just two processes ? If it's the latter, try using pipes; POCO supports them.
