POCO & OGRE

Postby lazalong » 14 Apr 2009, 07:44

Hey

You might be interested that the lead programmer (Sinbad) of OGRE is considering using Poco for thread support (among other things).

See from the second page of this thread: http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=48831

Perhaps one of the poco author could comment on ogre ;)

PS: My nickname on ogre is Steven.

That is good news !
I have been using Ogre for 3 years and Poco for a few months and I think they will match perfectly.
If you start using Poco Thread I can guarantee that you will soon be using other usefull packages like FileSystem, ...

Hi,

My current project, which is based on OGRE, doesn't use boost any more, it is fully Poco-based.
So, I compiled OGRE with Poco and it doesn't require the boost headers as a result. I don't need boost and it is not part of my project's dependencies.

PS: My nick name on the OGRE forums is the same as here. ;)
