Problem with Cygwin w/ gcc 3.4.4 (builds/links but doesn't work)

Postby fjoanis » 18 Dec 2008, 14:32

Hi,

I am having a problem with 1.3.3p1 under Cygwin (with gcc 3.4.4) where everything builds and links properly but doesn't run.

For example, this is the output of a gdb session for the Foundation testrunner:
^
(gdb) r
Starting program: /tmp/poco-1.3.3p1/Foundation/testsuite/bin/CYGWIN/i686/testrunner.exe
New thread 2184.0x5b0

gdb: unknown target exception 0xc0000135 at 0x7c96478e

Program exited with code 030000000465.

You can't do that without a process to debug.

(gdb)
^
I can build and link my own application with Poco, but I get the same result when running it.

After some research, I found this thread that explains what might be going on:

http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2004-10/msg01052.html

They suggest using a custom linker script to fix the issue. My first try with the custom linker script didn't work but I will give it another shot and let you know.

Thanks,
Francis
