POCO_NO_SHAREDLIBS not used?

I need to compile POCO without shared lib support (dlsym on unix).
On configure there is an option "--no-sharedlibs", that sets a POCO_NO_SHAREDLIBS define.
But searching the source, there is no use of this define. Is there something I am missing?
