testSharedLibrary could not load the library

Postby ringhio » 23 Jan 2014, 14:52

I just started working with poco 1.4.6p2, which I compiled successfully using intel compiler on ubuntu 12. All the test suites are ok except the testSharedLibrary and testClassLoader2/3 which fail returning "Cannot Load Library" LibraryLoadException messages.
I tried setting PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include "/home/luca/Staging/poco-1.4.6p2/Foundation/testsuite/bin/Linux/x86_64", "/home/luca/Staging/poco-1.4.6p2/Foundation/testsuite/bin" as well as the static branches.

I'm sure I must be doing some stupid error here, can anyone help me?

This is the output I get from running testrunnner testSharedLibrary1:

    testSharedLibrary1: ERROR

    !!!FAILURES!!!
    Runs: 1 Failures: 0 Errors: 1

    There was 1 error:
    1: N7CppUnit10TestCallerI17SharedLibraryTestEE.testSharedLibrary1
    "N4Poco20LibraryLoadExceptionE: Cannot load library"
    in "<unknown>", line -1

You'll have to run the testsuite in the bin/Linux/x86_64 directory and set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include the current directory (export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:.). Then it should work.

And indeed it does. In my 32 bit linux environment I found I had to be in oundation/testsuite/bin/Linux/i686. Why is that? It seems very odd to me.
