Getting POCO working

Postby bashbobhash » 18 Jul 2009, 05:17

I am using Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition and I am wondering how I get the POCO library working.

I downloaded the Economy package and started to setup my IDE for POCO. I setup the search directory: C:\poco-1.3.5\Foundation\include

Then I was going to setup the search directory for the lib files but I could not find the directory.

I was able to get the POCO library working without any trouble by following the "First Steps - Windows" tutorial at http://pocoproject.org/wiki/index.php/FirstStepsWindows. I get an HTTP 404 error when following the link "solution and project files for Visual Studio Express", but if compiling from the command prompt, they aren't needed.

Once you compile the libraries, look for C:\poco-1.3.5\bin and C:\poco-1.3.5\lib directories.

With VS Express, the test runner can not be compiled due to he GUI front end dependency on MFC. See this post for explanation and workaround.
