SharedPointer: pointer-on-pointer

Postby zzwf » 22 Jul 2009, 13:26

Hi,

I was wondering if its possible to create a SmartPointer which doesn't only do reference counting but also can change the object for all owners currently holding references. In the SharedPtr class is an example swap() but when doing that I would expect all SmartPtr copies still holding a reference to the old object. I'm looking for a Pointer-On-Pointer Smartpointer where the inner object can be changes for all instances currently holding copies of the SharedPtr. Can it be done using a SharedPtr inside a SharedPtr or is there a better way to do this?

thank you
