Windows CE Deployment: Unable to start debugging

Postby mbue » 07 Jun 2013, 11:39

Hello,

I successfully compiled POCO Foundation and POCO Net for my ARM 11 Windows CE platform.
I programmed a small server application which accepts TCP connections on the device and a small client application communicating with it. Everything works fine.

However, it seems like I cannot debug from Visual Studio 2008. When I deploy, I get an error message "Unable to start debugging". The application is deployed and I can run it on the device manually.
Before I included POCO dependencies into my project, debugging worked fine.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Ah, the endless joys of Windows CE remote debugging. Does it work if you ignore the deployment error and just continue?
Alternatively, you could try starting the application manually on the device, and then attach the debugger to the running application.
In my experience, the remote deployment feature of Visual Studio does not work in most cases anyway.

Thank you for your fast response.
No, the debugging doesnt work when I ignore the message.

I tried to attach the remote debugger via "Attach to process" (Smart Device option). On the "Browse" button next to the qualifier, I can select my ARM11 CE device, but the qualifier and process list are empty.
Are there any general requirements to make it work?
