static libs for Mac

Postby bird » 29 Sep 2007, 03:29

Sorry for the beginner post:

I'm a newbie used to the comforts of an IDE like XCode and would like to use Poco as static libraries instead of shared. If it's possible could someone show me how? I have no experience at all using Make... I assume the build->config->Darwin file needs to be edited but I'm not sure what settings to change to create the static libraries.

Thanks

This is is the document about POCO build system:

http://www.appinf.com/poco/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=BuildSystem

As for XCode, you may want to go to Apple developer forums for that.

There are two ways to achieve that:

1) edit $POCO_BASE/build/config/Darwin

replace the line
Code: Select all

LINKMODE = SHARED

with the line
Code: Select all

LINKMODE = STATIC

2) Alternatively

Code: Select all

cd $POCO_BASE/Foundation
make -s all_static

Repeat for all libs (XML, Util, Net)
