Difference between linux and windows downloads

Postby flipchart » 28 Sep 2011, 05:52

Hi

I apologize if this has been asked before, or is on the main website somewhere - I did look around but couldn't find it.

What is the difference between the linux and windows downloads of POCO? Besides the file extension? Are the libs different? I am developing code to run on both Windows and Linux and wanted to know if I need both downloads

Thanks!

The only difference is the archive format (zip vs. tar.gz/tar.bz2) and line endings of text files.

And because of the line endings different, if you compile windows download under linux, you will get error message & cannot even run the configure script.
