Re: POCO vs. Boost

use Boost, not just coexist I really hope you don't do this. I really don't like boost, mainly due to it's size and a hassle to build. I like the fact that you can just download Poco and build it, it makes life a lot easier. change the documentation markup to the one everyone else uses This is the ...

Some ideas

Hey I've got some ideas which i'd like to use in my future projects which might fit into Poco. I thought i'd post them here and see what you think and if you'd ever want them as part of Poco. Delegates Currently you have delegates which only accept a single parameter and don't return anything (corre...

I just noticed that the zip project doesn't have static debug/release configurations, are these going to be added? This is from the 1.3.4 branch.

Re: Abstract and Dynamic Factories destroy instances

There's two things you're dealing with here: allocation and deallocation. ReleasePolicy only addresses the latter. It does not guarantee where the pointer was allocated. You'd have to turn SharedPtr into a factory and ban users from using new. Isn't that up to the programmer? If your designing your...

Re: Abstract and Dynamic Factories destroy instances

This is a concern only if you are mixing different MSVC compiler versions (or mix release and debug code) - then you end up with different heaps for the DLLs. Even if we were to provide destroy() methods for all classes potentially affected by this, what are we to do with shared pointers? The only ...

Re: GUI lib (you can do it Poco!!)

In my spare time (whilst not programming OGE), i've started writing a gui library mainly for learning/to add to my cv. I'm making this library in the same (or as close as i can) style as poco. If i manage to get anywhere with it and it works well i'll contribute it to poco project. It is of course u...

Re: Processor Info and Affinity

[edit] changed the word to request instead of patch (not sure why i said patch)

Processor Info and Affinity

in OGE, we need to get our main thread (which controls timing) to be forced onto one particular core (high resolution timing problems can occur when threads use different cores depending on the hardware available because core/processor timers arent synchronised). We also need to get information abou...

Re: Visual Studio and MC.exe error

i'm fairly certain that i had this problem when i started to use visual studio 2008. i actually tried to find MC.exe in the installation and it didn't exist. IIRC i grabbed a copy of it from the cd, but i uninstalled VS and then installed it again and it was fine then. You could try looking for it o...
